Ryan Lucht is an entrepreneur as the head of HEY WTF Records, a Boston-based label releasing music on digital and cassette tape formats, as well as running its own apparel line. (For more info on HEY WTF, visit their website, Facebook, or Bandcamp pages). He is also a drummer/percussionist, part-time pianist, and electronic musician whose formal training ranges from orchestral music to jazz to avant garde chamber percussion pieces and performance art. Combining the sounds of ambient music and many forms of modern electronic dance music with clear jazz and other influences, his music presents a unique and deeply personal sound. His first full-length album was entitled Photogenesis, and is generative music that turns photographs and visual information into sound, which becomes the basis for ambient, minimalist, and drone music. Ryan also collaborates and produces on a number of pop, hip-hop, experimental, and EDM projects with various groups- a complete list of collaborations and producer credits is available on his website under the “Works” page. Ryan also DJs for a variety of events and maintains a comprehensive and interesting online presence- you can find him on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Soundcloud, Vimeo, and Mixcloud. His music is available via both his own and HEY WTF Records’ Bandcamp pages (see the Works page for links). Ryan is a first year Music Industry student at Northeastern University in Boston.
